(Dancer) Susan Hanley was almost turned off dance forever after an unpleasant experience in a cliquey college dance class. Fortunately, she moved to the Bay area and was re-programmed by Rhythm and Motion’s dance workout program, and, her zeal awakened, went on to study Brazilian, hip-hop, modern, and house dance. She became an instructor for Rhythm and Motion in 2002 and was a member of Christiane Crawford’s hip hop-jazz collective Rare Form before taking a hiatus to attend graduate school. Needing to dance barefoot again, she discovered bhangra in 2007 and was captured by its exuberance and infectious rhythms. She joined Duniya Dance Company in March 2008 and feels like a fish returned to water.
